College magazine analysis.

This is a college magazine that I have chosen to analyse. This is a college magazine that has been called “College Lifestyle”, this has kept the title quite simple, but has still let the reader instantly know what the magazine is all about. The image on the front of the cover has been centred right in the middle of the frame. This image makes the college magazine look stylish because of the way the model is dressed, and by the way he is standing (casually). The way the model is holding books in his hands makes the viewer also realize that it is a college magazine, other than just the title. This magazine has stuck to the conventions of a magazine well by putting the subtitles and information on the left and right hand side of the frame, having the title at the top of the page, even putting the title behind the image as if the viewer knows what the title of the magazine is. There is a website of the college magazine underneath the title (www.collegelifestylemag.com), and there is a price in the bottom left hand corner of the frame. I like the way this magazine has stuck to two or three colours at the most. This has made the magazine look more sophisticated and grown up. This will appeal to a lager amount of college students, because they would like to find their personal identity (uses and gratification theory) as being grown up and sophisticated. The subtitles on the magazine are bolder than the detailed parts and are also more colourful. This will help draw more attention to this section of the magazine, and draw people to read it.
