Questionnaire Analysis.

To research into what students would like in their college magazine, I designed a questionnaire to find out. Whilst doing the magazine I found out that over 50% of the people questioned wouldn’t read a college magazine. They said they wouldn’t read the magazine because it is too boring, and there isn’t anything that interests them in it. This has told me that the current college magazine isn’t having an impact on the students, and it needs to be changed for people to read it. I asked the students what they would like to be put into the college magazine for them to read it. 10 of the students said they would like sports to be put into the magazine, another 10 said music, 10 more said they would like to have a jobs page, 13 people said they would like college events to be put into the magazine. These were the top 4 things people wanted to be put into the magazine so I will therefore incorporate them in it. I have then gone on to ask people how much they would be willing to pay for their college magazine. Almost 50% of the people asked said they would pay 50p. I have come to the conclusion that I could make the first issue of the college magazine free to draw attention to it, and then I could start putting a price on the magazine. Also, to make more of a profit I could start getting advertising in the magazines. I could get advertising for taxi firms and small clothes shops. This would help attract a wider audience of students because they would like to see the advertising, and shops will get a larger audience and more consumers, resulting in more overall profit. The majority of people said they would like the college magazine to be on sale either fortnightly or monthly. This means I will have to sell my college magazine at one of these points. I have chosen to sell my magazine fortnightly because then I will make more of a profit from the magazine and will be able to put it towards making a better magazine which the students will enjoy more. Most of the students that were questioned said that their favourite part of college was the breaks. This has told me that I will need to sell my magazine where the majority of students go on their breaks. Some of these places could be the common room or the smokers shed. About 70% of the students said they wouldn't want an online version, this means that I will not be needing to spend any more money on making an online version at this time. I also asked the students whether they would subscribe to the college magazine. 70% of these students said they wouldn't. This means I could try to get people to change their minds by offering a 50% discount when the subscribe for a year. This would create a bigger audience and attract more advertising, resulting in a larger profit. 100% of the students that were questioned answered the question “Would you like a formal or informal magazine” with the answer informal. This means I am going to have to make my magazine informal.
