This is a magazine I have chosen to analyse the front cover of. This magazine is called “Classic Fm”. The first thing I noticed about this magazine cover is the amount of colours. The only colours that have been used are black, white and red. The red has been used in areas where they want the viewer to see first. Some of these places are the headings and the titles on the cover. Some other areas using red to grab attention would be the writing in the top left hand corner saying “Free CD”. This is also done where it says “Free disc” in the bottom left hand corner. The black has been used as the main font colour, and the white has been used in the background of the image. The white and black give a more sophisticated feel to the image. In the main title of the magazine (Classic Fm) there is a musical note looking part to the font (the ‘F’). This part of the title has also been put in red, instead of white and black like the rest of the title. This could also be to draw attention from the viewer to the magazine.
On this cover there has been one main image used. This image is of Myleen Klass (a famous pianist). There are also other smaller images around the main image. There are 5 images on this front cover in total each of these drawing less attention than the main image. In the bottom left hand corner, there is a subtitle reading “Composers of war”. This could be something to attract the right target audience. Readers of this magazine would therefore be older, and would have been close with one of the wars.
This magazine looks like it would be for a higher end audience because of its sophistication (in colour and writing). The readers of this magazine would be in their 40's and maybe older. I think this magazine would appeal more to a female audience, but some males would still read it. the predominant nationality that would read Classic FM would be White British. Other nationality’s may read this as well. The readers of this magazine would probably be in their 40's so they would most probably be married, and with children. their social status would be A (upper middle class) or B (middle class). The readers of this magazine would be in the psychographic profile of mainstreamers or of succeeders. These are the top end psychographic profiles and also the richest.
